Judith LiesJudith has been bringing the Medicine of Mindfulness through facilitating Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction courses to the Midwest since 1991. Courses have been offered in medical, mental health, professional, government, educational, corporate, religious, yoga, holistic-integrated care centers, and for the general public through her business, Seeds of Mindfulness. She continues to deepen her own practice studying with Thich Nhat Hanh and his monastics in France and the US, the local Blooming Heart Sangha in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, Pema Chodron and Norman Fischer. She is also a Lay Ordained Buddhist Clergy in Thich Nhat Hanh's order of Interbeing, Primary Facilitator of Blooming Heart Sangha for 16 years, a Mindful Smoking Cessation Instructor, an Advanced Care Planning Facilitator, completed training in Being With Dying, co-founded HEARTWOOD Mindfulness Practice Center, Mentored 9 MBSR Instructors in MN and two in Sioux Falls South Dakota and has had the great honor and pleasure of being a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist for over 3 decades integrating Eastern and Western Psychology.

Judith helped start Abbot Northwestern Hospitals, Center for Health and Healing, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program. She offered a four year training with a group of United Methodist Ministers from across the state in Mindfulness, Buddhism, and Christianity. She has been honored at both RESTORE Conferences as a Healer Mentor in the Twin Cities. Judith was an MBSR Instructor in a fourth research project sponsored by the University of Minnesota and the Women's Heart Health Program of the Minneapolis Heart Health Institute/Foundation. She was hired to teach Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction to the Professional Staff at Hazelden and Touchstone Mental Health, and was invited to teach MBSR to people living with cancer and chronic disease at Well Within in Woodbury.

Since 2010 she has taught MBSR to the general public in Minneapolis at her Mindfulness Practice Center, HEARTWOOD, at River Garden Yoga Center in St. Paul, and Yoga Center Mpls in St. Louis Park. She also offered: 3 six week MBSR courses in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for physicians, midwives, mental health professionals and clergy associated with Sanford Medical; 3 six week trainings in MBSR to Metropolitan State University Advanced Dental Therapists; an introduction to the difference between pain and suffering to congregants of Northfield United Methodist Church; a presentation to the U. of M. - Mpls. Student Parent Help Center attendees on MBSR and parenting; for the Minnesota Department of Human Services an inservice on Mindfulness Tools for Holiday Stress; and a half day workshop on MBSR for mental health staff of Spectrum Mental Health. The Minnesota Deparment of Health hired her to teach MBSR for a Sage Clinic research project: Cancer and MBSR.

Recently she offered courses at the U.of M., Minneapolis. OSHER Life Long Learning Institute on the life and teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, training in MBSR for staff at Macalester College, and training for men recently released from prison at Volunteers of America, a half-way house in South Minneapolis, a free 8 week MBSR course for family members of Minnesotans serving in the National Guard, and in a two year grant taught professional staff and clients at Touchstone Mental Health.
